Looking to expand your business growth opportunities beyond the world of defence? Public sector procurement, also known as civil tenders, offers a host of opportunities which are a great place to start.
Construction and infrastructure is one of the largest industry sectors in the UK, offering a wealth of opportunities for suppliers throughout the infrastructure supply chain from quantity surveying right through to putting the finishing touches on interior fitout and landscaping.
As the latest National Infrastructure and Construction Procurement Pipeline has been published (June 2020), we reveal the highlights from this report and give details of how your business can find new opportunities by using business intelligence.
National Infrastructure and Construction Procurement Pipeline
It was clear that the UK would release an ambitious infrastructure plan after UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s announcement during Budget 2020.
Although the new National Infrastructure and Construction Procurement Pipeline has been released during a pandemic crisis, it is made up of lucrative work packages, exciting projects and programmes that are planned to go out to market for procurement throughout the 2020/21 financial year.
The Infrastructure and Projects Authority has confirmed that:
“The procurements contained within the pipeline have an estimated total contract value of between £29 billion and £37 billion.”
The procurements in this pipeline include a broad range of works across infrastructure and construction such as:
- construction work including building, design & build and civil engineering contracts
- repair and maintenance services
- architectural, construction, engineering, and inspection services
- consultancy services
In the document’s Ministerial Foreword, Lord Agnew, Minister of State for the Cabinet Office and Her Majesty’s Treasury and Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, state that:
“The Government is deeply serious about working with partners and across sectors to improve the delivery of projects, and to use its purchasing power to increase productivity and drive innovation in infrastructure.”
This pipeline will be a central pillar for the UK’s National Infrastructure Strategy, which is due to be published later this year as well as a full ten-year projection of spend in a National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline.
