The largest and most advanced cyber defence exercise has taken place in Estonia. Organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn, Estonia, Locked Shields 2017 involves over 800 participants from 25 nations.
In the world’s largest cyber defence exercise, Locked Shields participants will be tasked to defend services and networks under a variety of scenarios. Over 2,500 cyber-attacks will be simulated for the participants, with IT experts training to defend networks, as well as handling legal and forensic challenges.
Participants include security experts who protect national IT systems, policy officers and legal advisors from NATO Allies and Partners.
Organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, the exercise takes place in cooperation with the Estonian Defence Forces, the British Army, the United States European Command, the Finnish Defence Forces, the Swedish Defence University, and Tallinn University of Technology. Industry partners are also closely involved.
