Guto Bebb has been appointed as Minister for Defence Procurement following Prime Minister Theresa May’s cabinet reshuffle.
He leaves his post Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State to replace Harriet Baldwin who takes up the post of Minister for Africa for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Bedd said: “2017 was a proud year for defence equipment, epitomised by the sight of our brand new aircraft carrier entering its new home. I recently witnessed the importance of the defence industry first-hand, when visiting our next generation Ajax Army vehicles and a regenerated RAF runway which will train the fighter pilots for our incredible f-35 Lightning jets.
I feel privileged to take on this role and am keen to get going to deliver our famous Armed Forces the cutting-edge kit they need, making 2018 an even better year for defence procurement.”
