The Defence Infrastructure Organisation has awarded a £90M contract to leading support services company, Carillion.
Carillion will undertake the design and build a communications centre in Cyprus for the UK defence deployment there.
Carillion is a leading UK company, with a substantial portfolio of Public Private Partnership projects, extensive construction capabilities and a sector leading ability to deliver sustainable solutions. The Company has carried out numerous PPO projects for Government buildings and infrastructure in Defence, Health Education, Transport and Secure accommodation sectors, while its construction expertise spans building and civil engineering in the UK, Middle East, and Canada.
The new communications facility will cover single-storey, of approximately 10,000sq m in area, and will be fitted with temperature and humidity controls. Construction is due to begin next month, with completion anticipated by the end of January 2019.
In welcoming the award, the Chief Executive of Carillion plc, Richard Howson, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation to design and build this project and we look forward to building on the strong relationship we have with the DIO as we work closely together to deliver this important new facility”.
