The World Bank is launching an assignment in Uzbekistan as part of the disaster risk management (DRM) technical assistance program funded by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). The assignment aims to: perform an earthquake vulnerability evaluation of key public buildings and develop retrofit solutions for effectively reducing the vulnerabilities; and enhance the capacities of governmental agencies and earthquake engineering practitioners in Uzbekistan to perform such a seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing buildings.
