According to recent research on global military expenditure trends, India is set to become one of the world’s largest defence spenders in the coming years.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) recently revealed that global spending on defence was over $1.7 trillion in 2014, with the Asia and Oceania region currently the world’s second highest region in terms of defence expenditure.
Spending in this region increased by 5% since 2013, with India alone seeing military spend increases of 2.8% in the same period.
