Perspecta has been awarded a contract extension worth $787 million from the US Department of the Navy for the continuation of IT services.
Perspecta currently provides to the Navy under the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) contract, with this new award seeing the company continue providing services for an additional year, through September 2019.
Under NGEN, Perspecta operates the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the world’s largest intranet, with approximately 300,000 seats representing 700,000 Navy and Marine Corps uniformed and civilian users, largely within the continental United States. As originally awarded, the NGEN contract would have expired on September 30, 2018.
As the Navy plans for the transition to the next competition for delivering NMCI enterprise services – known as NGEN-R – this award is part of a planned extension; a modification to add an option for an additional eight-month extension is also expected to be awarded. The NGEN extension will provide uninterrupted IT operations and network security services until award and start of the NGEN-R contracts.
Mac Curtis, Perspecta President and CEO, said: “Our NGEN delivery team is proud to continue serving the Navy and Marine Corps and we look forward to applying our extensive intellectual property portfolio and unparalleled knowledge in areas that align with the needs of the end user at all levels.”
