12 JULY 2018 – LAND WARFARE CENTRE, WARMINSTER
The UK MOD is researching the options available for a full task 81mm mortar training system to enhance the realism of collective training and also individual and detachment skills ab initio. It is envisaged that potential solutions will replicate the operation of all aspects of the mortar platoon from the mortar detachment to the command post and also the Mortar Fire Controller. It is anticipated that it will also enhance evaluation of training with real-time after action reviews and have the existing ability or the development potential to operate with the in-service suite of Tactical Engagement Simulation (TES) Systems and the Indoor Fires Trainer.
Aims of the Day
- To demonstrate to Defence that industry has produced mature and viable training solutions of a High Technology Readiness Level.
- To assist the internal Defence discussion as to how to train mortars in the future, including more efficient training output.
